Grindeys llp currently employs in excess of 140 people at its sites in Stoke and Stone. The main office is situated in Glebe Court, Stoke, with two further offices close by at Swift House and Brook Street. The fourth office, which serves the Stone and Stafford area, is situated in Christchurch Way, Stone.
Below is a brief historical summary of how we became Grindeys as we know it today.
1920’s – A small general law practice, Grindey & Graham, opened in Longton
1920’s - A small general law practice, Marshall and Ashwell, opened in Stoke
1927 – Grindey and Graham becomes Harold, Grindey and Co and relocated to Stoke
1927 – Marshall and Ashwell became Marshall, Fleet & Llewellyn
1977 – Harold, Grindey and Co moved back to Longton
1979 - Marshall, Fleet & Llewellyn opened an office in Newcastle
1980 – The two firms amalgamated and became Harold, Grindey, Marshall and Fleet and had offices in Stoke, Longton and Newcastle
1982 – An office was opened in Tunstall
1982 – The firm name was shortened to Grindeys
1982 – The remainder of the block of terraced houses on Glebe Street were purchased and converted into offices. The Newcastle and other Stoke office were closed and moved into the new modern offices now known as Glebe Court
1987 – The firm acquired R W Stevens
1990 – To accommodate expansion, a further office was opened in Stoke around the corner at Brook Street
1999 – The Longton office was closed
2000 – A new office opened in Stone town centre offering all the services we offer in Stoke but with a better location for our Stone and Stafford clients
2002 – The Tunstall office was closed and a new office opened on Church Street, Stoke, to accommodate the rapidly expanding National Conveyancing Team
2007 – New offices at Swift House, over the road from Glebe Court, were opened to accommodate the expanding National Conveyancing team. The Church Street offices remain but now accommodate our mortgage repossession, debt recovery and litigation teams.
